Hand lettering posters challenge you to think beyond fonts. Unlike standard typefaces, these designs reflect the personality and style of the designer. Each stroke, curve, and composition requires intention. If you’re a graphic designer, creating or studying hand lettering posters can sharpen your ability to convey emotion and message through type.
Designers often pour hours into a single word or phrase. It’s not about perfection. It’s about rhythm, weight, balance. You need to consider space, texture, and flow. When done well, hand lettering becomes more than letters. It becomes a message people pause to read.
Have you ever looked at a poster and felt something before reading the words? That’s the power of form paired with meaning.
You’re not just decorating words—you’re shaping how someone reads and feels them.
The best designs often start with quick sketches. Pencil on paper. No digital tricks. Once you’ve built a strong idea, refine it digitally without removing the energy of the original sketch.

Cyrillic Lettering
This June I’ve made a print for a summer collection of original goods store “Mom, buy!”. The main task was to develop a soft and neat Cyrillic lettering with high level of readability. The customer also asked me to save a unique brush structure in this work, which changed my habitual working tools. In addition to my lettering, in this work were also used watercolor illustrations by Daria Zarykovskaya. The work seemed to me interesting and unusual to main direction of my work, so I decided to tell you more about this project.
